Wikis 3/31

A wiki in my opinion in is a collaborative website that its users can jointly create articles and answer peoples questions. Wikipedia and Wikianswers are two examples. Wikipedia is a website were its users collaborate and work towards making an aricle about a topic giving it all the facts and knowledge about the topic. Wikianswers is a page were you can ask a question and people collaboratively work together in answering your question.

Facebook Buys Oculus

The major virtual reality gaming system company Oculus had recently received a buyout from Facebook. Facebook coughed up $2 billion dollars over to the headset company. The company only made 75,000 headsets, and they were only for gaming.  Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says he plans to expand the headsets from gaming on computers to possible social media connectivity on the phone. The headsets haven't been released yet but Facebook is in high hopes to sell a lot of their new investment.

Do Now 3/24/14

When I make a purchase I am usually sucked in by many different techniques that companies use to sell their product. I always get sucked in by the use of nice pictures and quality sales pick-up lines. I am always a sucker for a picture or video that presents a product to look beautiful. I also am a sucker for a funny pick-up line that sucks me into a sale. I am a salesman's dream, I am too easy.

Google Play Store Gets Hacked, Twice

On March 17 a hacker by the name of Ibrahim Balic from Turkey had hacked the Google Store twice after the developer console had crashed when he noticed a vulnerability in the system. This hack had made your phone not see new apps and updates to your old apps.  The hacker had admitted that he had no intention of performing a malicious act and he didn't mean to cause any danger. Developers at Google are outraged because the first hack had happened sunday morning. Google developers had stayed up all night fixing it, just to find themselves back to work hard again fixing another hack the next day. Developers from app producing companies were not allowed to put on new apps on the market.

Invisiblity Cloak

If I were to have an invisibility cloak for one day then I would definitely be the town hero. I would put on my cloak and save everyone in Wood-Ridge from the little dangers that no one knows about. My day would start ff with me waking up. Nothing too crazy, but I go downstairs early to help my  mom make her daily routine a little easier. I would out the things that she needs to do closer to each other so she takes less time to do it. Maybe I would do my laundry and make my lunch, just to make my mom's life easier.
Next I would ride along with my dad to work. I would clear the way for him and make his commute a lot easier in the morning by getting rid of all traffic. When my dad goes into work I would follow him in and take all of his co-workers that are a pain to him, and hide them, just for the day. To end my day I would hitch a ride back with my dad and end up in the great little town of Wood-Ridge. There I would stay in the middle of town where I can scope out for anyone that needs help or anyone that needs saving. And that is how I would spend a day with and invisibilty cloak.

Facebook Founder Calls President Obama to Complain about NSA

Late Wednesday night Mark Zuckerberg had called up President Obama to express his complaints about the new and strict enforcements of the NSA. The National Security Agency, or the NSA, is President Obama's new security system enforced throughout American computers and software. With this new security technology the government can view what American's are watching, posting, or streaming. Mark Zuckerberg had made his call to express his complaints about how protective the system was and how Facebook has enough security already. On a post on his page Tuesday morning he stated, "When our engineers work tirelessly to improve security, we imagine we're protecting you against criminals, not our own Government." His developers work hard everyday to keep his website fresh and safe, but with the new government enforcement it is very hard for him and his developers to keep the website new.

High-Tech Glasses Help Surgeons View Cancer Cells

Seen in the photo is Dr. Julie Margenthaler, breast surgeon and associate professor of surgery at Washington University wearing the new technology. The goggles haven't received a name yet, however their possibilities are outstanding. The new technology will help the user spot cancer cells much easier, making it easier for the surgeon to remove all cancer cells and making it less likely for a patient to have to attend a follow up surgery. The new technology works by first the surgeon injected a flourescent marker that makes the cancer cells brighten up a light shade of blue. The goggles allow the surgeon view the distinct colors and remove those cells. The goggles are still in development and don't even have a name yet. Dr. Julie Margenthaler is raving about the goggles because they eliminate the follow surgeries as well as the anxiety and extra pain of the surgeries. The main goal of the goggles is "To leave no cancer cell behind". Hopefuly this can be achieved. Full article here
