Technology Article 2-7-14: Hunger Games to use CGI in the final Hunger Games Movie in replacement of Philip Seymour Hoffman
The late Philip Seymour Hoffman passed away on February 2 leaving his role unfinished in the first and second parts of the final Hunger Games movie. This technology is not new as it has been used in the role of Oliver Reed in the 2000 movie Gladiator. Multiple scenes in that movie had been regenerated using the then new technology of Computer Generated Imagery. Fortunately many parts of the movie wont be effected and the movie will release on the same dates of November 21, 2014 for art 1 and November 20, 2015.
CGI Technology is a fairly new technology. Like I had mentioned before it had been used in past movies but it will be making a very big appearance in a very big movie franchise. CGI uses computer art to make a moving picture that coincides with the actual real life characters in the movie. Some movies have been ruled terrible because of their use of really bad CGI effects. Here is a video of some of the worse CGI uses ever. CGI is a great technology that can really improve a movie, or make it ten times worse.

ReplyDeleteI really liked your post. Of course, certain things in movies are special effects, but I never really knew what they used to do it. The article was more interesting, since you made an older invention relative with a new movie. I knew that one of the characters from Hunger Games died, but I wasn't sure what they might do about it in the movie, until you presented this article. I liked how you included a video; it was a great example of CGI effects, especially, because you were able to tell what was computer generated (which in hindsight though is bad). Your post was very informative, with a great use of visual media.
